Book Trailers, Playaways, and E-Books

Wow! Have we had a great month in the library!  We have been rolling out a bunch of new materials.  In October we received a large shipment of new books that include some new Playaways.

Playaways:
Playaways are mp3 players that have a book loaded on the machine.  The students can check out a kit with the Playaway and a book.  They have been a HUGE hit!  We cannot keep them on the shelves.  The students need to remember they have to have a signed parent Playaway agreement before they are able to check out a kit.

E-Books:
Last week all the students practiced access ABDO Digtial.  A website for digital books. We currently have 500 digital e-books for the students to read.  They know the user name and password and how to access the site.  Here is the direct link: http://my.abdodigital.com/login/.

Book Trailers:
Finally, this week in the 3rd-5th classes the students have been viewing book trailers about some of the books we have available to check out.  I'm including a few pictures of our recent class.

Book Fair is Here!!

Friday, September 20th was a wonderful start to our book fair week. There are many wonderful books at all levels pre-k through adult. Books make wonderful Christmas presents and you will be helping the school with every purchase.   Remember to stop by and check out the fair when you are in the building for parent/teacher conferences this week.

Book Fair Coming Soon

I am very excited about our book fair that will be open on September 20 and last until September 26.  This is a great way to find new books and also help support our school.  Here is a small sample of the books we will have in the book fair.

We also have an online fair where friends and family can order even if they live to far to come to the school fair.  The online fair starts on September 15 and will last until October 5.  That all for now, Keep Reading

Library Up and Running

We have had a wonderful start in the library this year!

Every student should have chosen a book last week during library class.  All students will be allowed to bring their books home.  In the kindergarten and 1st grade classes we talked about their book “living in the backpack.”  This will help keep the books safe when they are not being read.  In 2nd-5th grade we talked about picking a “Just Right” book. 

A big thank you to the Springdale Rotary for supplying us with some great new books!

Meet Mrs. Love,

I am so excite to be the Library Media Specialist here at Sonora Elementary!  I can hardly wait for the first day of school.  I have taught for Springdale Schools for twelve years.  This is my 13^th year of teaching.  You will find out that I LOVE to read.  I’m looking forward to meeting all of you very soon. 

This first blog post is going to be short and sweet, but I'm already planning my next post about some of the changes you will find in the library when you visit.
